Hadith #198

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا نَخْلًا لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ فَسَمِعَ أَصْوَاتَ رِجَالٍ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَزِعًا فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ تَعَوَّذُوا مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) say: the Prophet ﷺ entered one day a palm grove belonging to Banu al-Najjar. He heard the voices of people being punished in their graves. He came out troubled and said: 'Seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave.'
