حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدٌ ح وَرَوْحٌ
قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ أَعْطَى أُمَّهُ حَدِيقَةً مِنْ نَخْلٍ حَيَاتَهَا فَمَاتَتْ فَجَاءَ إِخْوَتُهُ فَقَالُوا نَحْنُ فِيهِ شَرْعٌ سَوَاءٌ فَأَبَى فَاخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَسَمَهَا بَيْنَهُمْ مِيرَاثًا

English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Sufyan, Humayd narrated to me — and Rawh said: Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us — from Humayd ibn Qays al-A'raj, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) that a man from the Ansar made a bequest freeing his slave after his death, and he had no other property. the Prophet ﷺ took the slave and said: 'Who will buy him from me?' Nu'aym ibn 'Abdullah bought him. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not give away that which you need.'
