Hadith #255
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ح وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْ
يَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا لَا إِلَه إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَإِذَا قَالُوهَا عَصَمُوا مِنِّي بِهَا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ { فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَّكِرٌ لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ }

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan — and 'Abd al-Rahman said: Sufyan narrated to us — from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنهما), who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: There is no god but Allah. So when they say it, their blood and their wealth are protected from me, except by its right, and their reckoning is with Allah (عز وجل).'
