Hadith #271
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ لَمَّا تَزَوَّجْتُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَلْ اتَّخَذْتُمْ أَنْمَاطًا قَالَ قُلْتُ
أَنَّى لَنَا أَنْمَاطٌ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ لِامْرَأَتِي نَحِّي عَنِّي نَمَطَكِ فَتَقُولُ أَوَلَيْسَ قَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Ibn al-Munkadir, from Jabir (رضي الله عنهما), who said: When I got married, the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Have you acquired cushioned furnishings?' I said: 'How could we have cushioned furnishings?' He said: 'Indeed, you will have them.' And I have a cushion of velvet in my house, and when I see it I remember what the Prophet ﷺ said.
