English Translation

Hushaym narrated to us, from Husayn, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: A boy was born to a man among us, and he named him al-Qasim. We said: 'We will not give you the kunyah [Abu al-Qasim] until we ask the Prophet ﷺ.' He mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Name yourselves with my name, but do not use my kunyah.'
