English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Jabir (رضي الله عنهما), who said: We were with the Prophet ﷺ and he asked for water. A man said: 'Shall I give you nabidh [date drink] to drink?' He said: 'Yes.' The man went out running and came back with a cup containing nabidh. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Why did you not cover it, even if only by placing a stick across it?'
