حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَن
ْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَلَا أُنْثَى إِلَّا وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ حَرِيرٌ مَعْقُودٌ ثَلَاثَ عُقَدٍ حِينَ يَرْقُدُ فَإِنْ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ فَإِذَا قَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ انْحَلَّتْ عُقْدَةٌ فَإِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ انْحَلَّتْ عُقَدُهُ كُلُّهَا

English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir (رضي الله عنهما), who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no male or female except that upon his head are three knots of a string tied when he sleeps. If he wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is untied. If he performs wudu, another knot is untied. If he prays, the third knot is untied, and he becomes energetic and cheerful. Otherwise, he becomes lazy and foul-spirited.'
