حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ الصَّوَّافِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ إِنْ
شَاءَ اللَّهُ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَمْسِكُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَمْوَالَكُمْ وَلَا تُعْمِرُوهَا فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ أُعْمِرَ شَيْئًا حَيَاتَهُ فَهُوَ لَهُ حَيَاتَهُ وَمَوْتَهُ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj al-Sawwaf, from Abu al-Zubayr — if Allah wills — from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O community of the Ansar, hold on to your wealth and do not give it as 'umra [lifetime gifts]. For whoever gives something as 'umra, it belongs to the one who was given it, living or dead, and to his heirs.'
