Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ هُوَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ يُوشِكُ أَهْلُ الْعِرَاقِ أَنْ لَا يُجْبَى إِلَيْهِمْ قَفِيزٌ وَلَا دِرْهَمٌ قُلْنَا مِنْ أَيْنَ ذَاكَ قَالَ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْعَجْمِ يُمْنَعُونَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ يُوشِكُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ أَنْ لَا يُجْبَى إِلَيْهِمْ دِينَارٌ وَلَا مُدٌّ
قُلْنَا مِنْ أَيْنَ ذَاكَ مِنْ قِبَلِ الرُّومِ يُمْنَعُونَ ذَاكَ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَمْسَكَ هُنَيْهَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ أُمَّتِي خَلِيفَةٌ يَحْثُو الْمَالَ حَثْوًا لَا يَعُدُّهُ عَدًّا قَالَ الْجُرَيْرِيُ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي نَضْرَةَ وَأَبِي الْعَلَاءِ أَتَرَيَانِهِ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ فَقَالَا لَا

English Translation
Isma'il, who is Ibn 'Ulayyah, narrated to us, from al-Jurayri, from Abu Nadrah, who said: We were with Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), and he said: 'It is near that the people of Iraq will not receive a qafiz [measure of grain] or a dirham.' We said: 'Why is that?' He said: 'From the non-Arabs — they will prevent it.' Then he said: 'It is near that the people of Sham will not receive a dinar or a mudd [measure of grain].' We said: 'Why is that?' He said: 'From the Romans.' Then he was silent for a while, then said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: At the end of my Ummah, there will be a khalifah who will distribute wealth in handfuls without counting it.'
