English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'd ibn Zurarah, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: "While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the khutbah on Friday, a man came, so the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Have you prayed, O so-and-so?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Stand and pray two rak'ahs.' And in another narration: he commanded him to shorten them."
