حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ال
ْأَنْصَارِيَّ عَنْ الضَّبُعِ قُلْتُ آكُلُهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ أَصَيْدٌ هِيَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ سَمِعْتَ ذَاكَ مِنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَعَمْ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr informed me that 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abdullah ibn Abi 'Ammar told him, he said: "I asked Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (رضي الله عنهما) about the hyena — is it game (to be hunted)? He said: 'Yes.' I said: 'Can I eat it?' He said: 'Yes.' I said: 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that?' He said: 'Yes.'"
