‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏أَكَلْنَا زَمَنَ ‏ ‏خَيْبَرَ ‏ ‏الْخَيْلَ وَحُمُرَ الْوَحْشِ ‏ ‏وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ الْحِمَارِ الْأَهْلِيِّ ‏

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: "At the time of Khaybar, we ate horses and wild donkeys. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us from eating domestic donkeys."
