English Translation

Rawh narrated to us, Zakariyya narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us that he heard Jabir (رضي الله عنه) saying: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ separated from his wives for a month. He would stay in the upper room while they were below. the Prophet ﷺ came down on the twenty-ninth day. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is only the twenty-ninth.' He said: 'The month can be twenty-nine (days).' And he clapped his hands three times — twice with all fingers, and the third time with nine fingers (to indicate twenty-nine)."
