English Translation
Abu 'Amir narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us — and Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us — from 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Aqil, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه): "the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they say "La ilaha illallah" (There is no god but Allah). When they say it, their blood and their wealth are protected from me, except by its right (i.e., due legal process), and their reckoning is with Allah (عز وجل).'" Then he recited: 'You are only a reminder. You are not over them a controller.' (Quran 88:21-22)
