Hadith #79

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ أُخْتَ الرُّبَيِّعِ أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ جَرَحَتْ إِنْسَانًا فَاخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقِصَاصُ الْقِصَاصُ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ الرُّبَيِّعِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُقْتَصُّ مِنْ فُلَانَ
ةَ لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا يُقْتَصُّ مِنْهَا أَبَدًا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا أُمَّ رُبَيِّعٍ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا يُقْتَصُّ مِنْهَا أَبَدًا قَالَ فَمَا زَالَتْ حَتَّى قَبِلُوا مِنْهَا الدِّيَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ

English Translation
Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Thabit informed us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه), that the sister of al-Rubayyi', Umm Harithah, injured a person. They brought their dispute to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Retribution, retribution!' Umm al-Rubayyi' said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should retribution be taken from so-and-so? By Allah, it shall not be taken!' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Subhan Allah, O Umm al-Rubayyi'! Retribution is the Book of Allah.' She said: 'By Allah, it shall never be taken from her!' She kept saying this until the injured party's family accepted the blood money. the Prophet ﷺ then said: 'Indeed, among the servants of Allah are those who, if they swear by Allah, He fulfills their oath.'
