Hadith #108
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنْ شَأْنِ ثَقِيفٍ إِذْ بَايَعَتْ فَقَالَ اشْتَرَطَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا صَدَقَةَ عَلَيْهَا وَلَا جِهَادَ

English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us who said: I asked Jabir about the matter of Thaqif when they gave their pledge of allegiance. He said: 'They stipulated to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that there would be no charity (sadaqah) upon them and no jihad.' And [Jabir said]: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'They will give charity and they will perform jihad when they become Muslim.'
