Hadith #1Ungraded

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏دَخَلَتْ ‏ ‏الْبِقَاعُ ‏ ‏حَوْلَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَرَادَ ‏ ‏بَنُو سَلِمَةَ ‏ ‏أَنْ يَنْتَقِلُوا قُرْبَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ لَهُمْ إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي ‏ ‏أَنَّكُمْ تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تَنْتَقِلُوا قُرْبَ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ أَرَدْنَا ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا ‏ ‏بَنِي سَلِمَةَ ‏ ‏دِيَارَكُمْ تُكْتَبْ آثَارُكُمْ دِيَارَكُمْ تُكْتَبْ آثَارُكُمْ ‏

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, my father narrated to us, al-Jurayri narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "The open lands around the masjid became available, and Banu Salamah wanted to move closer to the masjid. That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to them: 'O Banu Salamah, stay in your dwellings, for your footsteps are recorded (as reward).' They said: 'We would not be happy to have moved.' In another narration, he said: 'Your dwellings (record your footsteps).'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏دَاوُدُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَا ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ خَلِيفَةٌ يَقْسِمُ الْمَالَ وَلَا يَعُدُّهُ ‏

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Dawud narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id and Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'At the end of time there will be a caliph who will distribute wealth without counting it.'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَشْعَثُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنَّا نُسَافِرُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَإِذَا صَعِدْنَا كَبَّرْنَا وَإِذَا هَبَطْنَا سَبَّحْنَا ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ash'ath narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "We used to travel with the Prophet ﷺ. When we ascended (a hill), we would say 'Allahu Akbar' (takbir), and when we descended (a valley), we would say 'SubhanAllah' (tasbih)."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرًا ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ وَإِنِّي أَشْتَرِطُ عَلَى رَبِّي أَيَّ عَبْدٍ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ شَتَمْتُهُ أَوْ سَبَبْتُهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ زَكَاةً وَأَجْرًا ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir (رضي الله عنه) saying: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "I am only a human being, and I have made a condition with my Lord: any Muslim servant whom I have cursed or insulted, make that for him a purification, a mercy, and a means of drawing near (to Allah)."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَاهُ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ ‏ ‏عَنْ حَجَّةِ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ثُمَّ ‏ ‏نَزَلَ عَنْ ‏ ‏الصَّفَا ‏ ‏حَتَّى ‏ ‏انْصَبَّتْ ‏ ‏قَدَمَاهُ فِي ‏ ‏بَطْنِ الْوَادِي ‏ ‏سَعَى حَتَّى إِذَا صَعِدْنَا الشِّقَّ الْآخَرَ مَشَى ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Ja'far ibn Muhammad narrated to me that he heard his father narrating that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) narrating about the Hajj of the Prophet ﷺ. He said: "Then he descended from al-Safa, and when his feet reached the bottom of the valley, he jogged (ramal) until he ascended (out of the valley)." Meaning: during the sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah, the Prophet ﷺ walked briskly in the low area between the two green markers.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ ‏ ‏سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يُسْأَلُ عَنْ ‏ ‏الْمُهَلِّ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ ثُمَّ انْتَهَى أُرَاهُ يُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏مُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ‏ ‏وَالطَّرِيقِ الْأُخْرَى ‏ ‏الْجُحْفَةِ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْعِرَاقِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏ذَاتِ عِرْقٍ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏نَجْدٍ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏قَرْنٍ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْيَمَنِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏يَلَمْلَمَ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) being asked about the miqat (the designated location for entering ihram). He said: 'I heard' — then he paused, and I think he was referring to the Prophet ﷺ — 'he said: "The miqat of the people of Madinah is Dhul-Hulayfah, and the other route is al-Juhfah. The miqat of the people of Iraq is Dhat 'Irq. The miqat of the people of Najd is Qarn. And the miqat of the people of Yemen is Yalamlam."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرًا ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لِأَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ ‏ ‏مَا شَأْنُ أَجْسَامِ بَنِي أَخِي ‏ ‏ضَارِعَةً ‏ ‏أَتُصِيبُهُمْ حَاجَةٌ قَالَتْ لَا وَلَكِنْ تُسْرِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ الْعَيْنُ ‏ ‏أَفَنَرْقِيهِمْ قَالَ وَبِمَاذَا فَعَرَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ ارْقِيهِمْ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir (رضي الله عنه) saying: "the Prophet ﷺ said to Asma' bint 'Umays: 'What is the matter with the bodies of my brother's children — they look weak (dariah). Are they in need?' She said: 'No, but the evil eye afflicts them quickly.' He said: 'Perform ruqyah (Quranic healing) on them.' She recited (a formula) to him, and he said: 'Perform ruqyah on them.'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ فَفِي ‏ ‏الرَّبْعِ ‏ ‏وَالْفَرَسِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us — and 'Abdullah ibn al-Harith from Ibn Jurayj — he said: Abu al-Zubayr narrated to me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "If one of you enters a town (or land), let him say: 'O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and what they shade, Lord of the seven earths and what they carry, Lord of the devils and those they lead astray, Lord of the winds and what they scatter — I ask You for the good of this town and the good of its people. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people, and the evil of what is in it.'"'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏أَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ حَتَّى إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ تَقْدَمُ مِنْ الْبَادِيَةِ بِكَلْبِهَا فَنَقْتُلُهُ ثُمَّ ‏ ‏نَهَى النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ قَتْلِهَا وَقَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْأَسْوَدِ ‏ ‏الْبَهِيمِ ‏ ‏ذِي النُّقْطَتَيْنِ فَإِنَّهُ شَيْطَانٌ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: "the Prophet ﷺ commanded us to kill dogs, until a woman would come from the desert with her dog and we would kill it. Then the Prophet ﷺ prohibited killing dogs and said: 'It is upon you (to kill only) the pure black one with two spots (above the eyes), for it is a shaytan (devil).'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏زِيَادُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَتِيقٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا دَخَلَتْ ‏ ‏صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ ‏ ‏عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فُسْطَاطَهُ ‏ ‏حَضَرَ نَاسٌ وَحَضَرْتُ مَعَهُمْ لِيَكُونَ فِيهَا قَسْمٌ فَخَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏قُومُوا عَنْ أُمِّكُمْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنْ الْعَشِيِّ حَضَرْنَا فَخَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِلَيْنَا فِي طَرَفِ رِدَائِهِ نَحْوٌ مِنْ ‏ ‏مُدٍّ ‏ ‏وَنِصْفٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ عَجْوَةٍ فَقَالَ كُلُوا مِنْ وَلِيمَةِ أُمِّكُمْ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Ziyad ibn Isma'il informed me, from Sulayman ibn 'Atiq, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "When Safiyyah bint Huyayy entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, her tent was pitched for her. The people rushed to her tent. I was among those who entered. She was covered and veiled. The people said: 'Is she one of the Mothers of the Believers, or is she what his right hand possesses (a concubine)?' Some of them said: 'If he veils her, she is one of the Mothers of the Believers. And if he does not veil her, she is what his right hand possesses.' When he wanted to depart, he made a place for her behind him and placed a screen between her and the people." So they knew she was one of the Mothers of the Believers.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ ‏ ‏سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَأْكُلُ فِي مِعًى وَاحِدٍ وَالْكَافِرُ يَأْكُلُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed us that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "The believer eats in one intestine, while the disbeliever eats in seven intestines."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَنْقُلُ مَعَهُمْ الْحِجَارَةَ ‏ ‏لِلْكَعْبَةِ ‏ ‏وَعَلَيْهِ ‏ ‏إِزَارٌ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ لَهُ ‏ ‏الْعَبَّاسُ ‏ ‏عَمُّهُ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي لَوْ حَلَلْتَ ‏ ‏إِزَارَكَ ‏ ‏فَجَعَلْتَهُ عَلَى ‏ ‏مَنْكِبَيْكَ ‏ ‏دُونَ الْحِجَارَةِ قَالَ فَحَلَّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ عَلَى ‏ ‏مَنْكِبَيْهِ ‏ ‏فَسَقَطَ مَغْشِيًّا عَلَيْهِ فَمَا رُئِيَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ عُرْيَانًا ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Zakariyya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Dinar narrated to us, he said: 'I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: "the Prophet ﷺ used to carry stones with them for (the rebuilding of) the Ka'bah, while wearing his izar (lower garment). His uncle al-'Abbas said to him: 'O nephew, if you would untie your izar and place it on your shoulder beneath the stones (to protect yourself).' He untied it and placed it on his shoulder, and he fell unconscious. After that, he was never seen unclothed."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏طَافَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ‏ ‏بِالْبَيْتِ ‏ ‏وَبَيْنَ ‏ ‏الصَّفَا ‏ ‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ ‏ ‏لِيَرَاهُ النَّاسُ وَلِيُشْرِفَ وَيَسْأَلُوهُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ غَشُوهُ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: "the Prophet ﷺ performed tawaf during the Farewell Hajj around the Ka'bah on his riding mount, and between al-Safa and al-Marwah, so that the people could see him and he was elevated above them, and so they could ask him questions, for the people had crowded around him."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَوْحٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَا يَمُوتَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُحْسِنُ الظَّنَّ بِاللَّهِ ‏

Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Let none of you die except while having good expectations of Allah (عز وجل)."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو هِلَالٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏صَنَعْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَخَّارَةً فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا فَوَضَعْتُهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَاطَّلَعَ فِيهَا فَقَالَ ‏ ‏حَسِبْتُهُ لَحْمًا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ ‏ ‏لِأَهْلِي ‏ ‏فَذَبَحُوا لَهُ شَاةً ‏

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Abu Hilal narrated to us, Ishaq ibn 'Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah narrated to us, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "We prepared a ceramic pot (fakhkharah — a pot of food) for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I brought it to him and placed it in front of him. He ate from it and said: 'Give me more.' So I brought him more, and he ate, and said: 'Give me more.' So I brought him more, and he ate, then said: 'Give me more.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, there is nothing left.' He said: 'This food is blessed. If I had found more, I would have eaten.'"

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Thabit narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'An accepted Hajj (Hajj al-mabrur) has no reward except Paradise.' They said: 'O Prophet of Allah, what makes Hajj accepted (mabrur)?' He said: 'Feeding others and spreading the salam.'"

Hujayn ibn al-Muthanna Abu 'Umar narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not wage war during the sacred month unless he was attacked or they (the enemy) attacked. When that happened, he would halt until the sacred month ended, then resume."

Hujayn and Yunus narrated to us, both said: Layth ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما): "A man from the Ansar said: 'Is there a ruqyah (treatment by recitation) for scorpion stings?' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, let him do so.'"

Hujayn and Yunus narrated to us, both said: Layth ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had separated from his wives for a month. He came out to us on the twenty-ninth (day). We said: 'It is only the twenty-ninth day.' He said: 'The month can be twenty-nine.'" And he clapped his hands three times, twice with all ten fingers and the third with nine — indicating twenty-nine.

Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, from Waqid ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Every intoxicant is haram (forbidden). Allah has made a covenant that whoever drinks intoxicants, He will give him to drink from tinat al-khabal.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is tinat al-khabal?' He said: 'The sweat of the people of Hell' — or 'the discharge of the people of Hell.'"

Yunus ibn Muhammad and Hujayn narrated to us, both said: Layth narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not eat with the left hand, for Shaytan eats with the left hand.'"

Yunus ibn Muhammad and Hujayn narrated to us, both said: Layth narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sent me on an errand. Then I caught up with him and greeted him. He gestured to me (to wait, as he was praying). When he finished, he said: 'You greeted me just now while I was praying.' He was facing east on his mount (praying a voluntary prayer)."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏وَحُجَيْنٌ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏لَيْثٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏عُرِضَ عَلَيَّ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ فَإِذَا ‏ ‏مُوسَى ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏رَجُلٌ ضَرْبٌ مِنْ الرِّجَالِ كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ رِجَالِ ‏ ‏شَنُوءَةَ ‏ ‏فَرَأَيْتُ ‏ ‏عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَإِذَا أَقْرَبُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُ بِهِ شَبَهًا ‏ ‏عُرْوَةُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ‏ ‏وَرَأَيْتُ ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمَ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَإِذَا أَقْرَبُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُ بِهِ شَبَهًا صَاحِبُكُمْ ‏ ‏يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَرَأَيْتُ ‏ ‏جِبْرِيلَ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَإِذَا أَقْرَبُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُ بِهِ شَبَهًا ‏ ‏دِحْيَةُ ‏

Yunus and Hujayn narrated to us, both said: Layth narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: "the Prophet ﷺs were presented before me. Musa (عليه السلام) was a lean, tall man, as if he were from the men of Shanu'ah. And 'Isa ibn Maryam (عليه السلام) — the closest in resemblance to him that I found was 'Urwah ibn Mas'ud. And Ibrahim (عليه السلام) — the closest in resemblance to him that I found is your companion (meaning himself ﷺ). And Jibril (عليه السلام) — the closest in resemblance to him that I found is Dihyah."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏وَحُجَيْنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏لَيْثٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏اشْتَكَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَصَلَّيْنَا وَرَاءَهُ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ ‏ ‏وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ‏ ‏يُكَبِّرُ يُسْمِعُ النَّاسَ تَكْبِيرَهُ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْنَا فَرَآنَا قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَعَدْنَا فَصَلَّيْنَا بِصَلَاتِهِ قُعُودًا فَلَمَّا صَلَّى قَالَ إِنْ كِدْتُمْ ‏ ‏آنِفًا ‏ ‏تَفْعَلُونَ فِعْلَ ‏ ‏فَارِسَ ‏ ‏وَالرُّومِ ‏ ‏يَقُومُونَ عَلَى مُلُوكِهِمْ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا ‏ ‏ائْتَمُّوا بِأَئِمَّتِكُمْ إِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا ‏

Yunus and Hujayn narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell ill, and we prayed behind him while he was sitting. Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) was repeating the takbir loudly so the people could hear. He turned and saw us standing, so he gestured to us and we sat down and prayed sitting with him. When he finished, he said: 'You were about to do as the Persians and Romans do — they stand before their kings while their kings are seated. Do not do that. Follow your imam: if he prays standing, pray standing. And if he prays sitting, pray sitting.'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبَانُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذْ مَرَّتْ جَنَازَةٌ فَذَهَبْنَا لِنَحْمِلَ فَإِذَا جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ ‏ ‏أَوْ يَهُودِيَّةٍ ‏ ‏فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا كَانَتْ جَنَازَةَ يَهُودِيٍّ ‏ ‏أَوْ يَهُودِيَّةٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْمَوْتُ فَزَعٌ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ جَنَازَةً فَقُومُوا ‏

Yunus narrated to us, Aban — meaning al-'Attar — narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from 'Ubaydullah ibn Miqsam, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a funeral passed by. He stood up for it, and when we stood with him and it had passed, we said: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is a Jewish funeral.' He said: 'When you see a funeral, stand up.'"

Isma'il ibn Muhammad — Abu Ibrahim al-Mu'aqqib — narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A freed slave with no designated patron (sa'ibah)...'" — and Khalaf ibn al-Walid said in another narration: "'A freed slave whose right of patronage belongs to whoever freed him. This applies even if the freed person does not wish it.'"

Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, Mujalid ibn Sa'id narrated to us, al-Sha'bi narrated to me, Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) narrated to me: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ established the practice (sunnah) that a camel and a cow count as a sacrifice on behalf of seven people."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْغَسِيلِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏شُرَحْبِيلُ أَبُو سَعْدٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ ‏ ‏دَخَلَ عَلَى ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏وَهُوَ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَحَوْلَهُ ثِيَابٌ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ يَا ‏ ‏أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏تُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَهَذِهِ ثِيَابُكَ إِلَى جَنْبِكَ قَالَ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَيَّ الْأَحْمَقُ مِثْلُكَ ‏ ‏فَيَرَانِي أُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوَكَانَ لِكُلِّ ‏ ‏أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏ثَوْبَانِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَ ‏ ‏جَابِرٌ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُنَا فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا مَا اتَّسَعَ الثَّوْبُ فَتَعَاطَفْ بِهِ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْكَ ثُمَّ صَلِّ وَإِذَا ضَاقَ عَنْ ذَاكَ فَشُدَّ بِهِ ‏ ‏حَقْوَيْكَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ صَلِّ مِنْ غَيْرِ رِدَاءٍ لَهُ ‏

Yunus narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman — meaning Ibn al-Ghasil — narrated to us, Shurahbil Abu Sa'd narrated to me that he entered upon Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) while he was praying in a single garment, with other garments around him. When he finished his prayer, I said: 'May Allah forgive you, O Abu 'Abdullah! You pray in a single garment while your garments are beside you?' He said: 'I did this so that a fool like you would see me. I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in a single garment.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏غِلَظُ الْقُلُوبِ وَالْجَفَاءُ فِي أَهْلِ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْحِجَازِ ‏

'Abdullah ibn al-Harith al-Makhzumi narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) saying: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "Hardness of heart and coarseness are among the people of the East, while iman (faith) is among the people of the Hijaz."'

'Abdullah ibn al-Harith narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) claiming that the Prophet ﷺ prohibited pictures (images) in the house and prohibited men from making them.

Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, 'Amr ibn al-Harith narrated to us, from 'Abd Rabbihi ibn Sa'id, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "For every disease there is a remedy. When the remedy matches the disease, the person recovers by the permission of Allah (عز وجل)."

Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, 'Amr informed me that Bukayr narrated to him that 'Asim ibn 'Umar ibn Qatadah narrated to him that Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) visited al-Muqanna' and said: "I will not leave until you have cupping done." He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Indeed, in it (cupping) there is healing."'

Hasan narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr Muhammad ibn Muslim — the mawla of Hakim ibn Hizam — narrated to us, from Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (رضي الله عنهما), the Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not wish for death, for indeed the terror of the place where one stands (on the Day of Resurrection) is immense. And indeed, among the blessings of a person's long life is that Allah grants him repentance.'"

Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, 'Amr informed me, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "O Messenger of Allah, do we work for a matter that has already been decreed, or for a matter that is yet to be determined?" He said: "For a matter that has already been decreed." Suraqah (ibn Malik) said: "Then why do we strive?" He said: "Everyone is facilitated for what they were created for."

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما): "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever has the means, let him shroud (the deceased) in a garment of hibarah (a fine striped Yemeni cloth).'"

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "A woman was punished because of a cat — she tied it up until it died. She did not release it so it could eat from the vermin of the earth, nor did she feed it or give it water."

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "A person will be with those whom he loves."' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had written, before he died, to every clan prescribing what was obligatory upon them in charity (zakat) and their various duties, but it was not sent out before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنْ عِشْتُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ‏ ‏زَجَرْتُ ‏ ‏أَنْ يُسَمَّى بَرَكَةُ وَيَسَارٌ وَنَافِعٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏جَابِرٌ ‏ ‏لَا أَدْرِي ذَكَرَ رَافِعًا أَمْ لَا ‏ ‏إِنَّهُ يُقَالُ لَهُ هَاهُنَا بَرَكَةٌ فَيُقَالُ لَا وَيُقَالُ هَاهُنَا يَسَارٌ فَيُقَالُ لَا قَالَ فَقُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَلَمْ ‏ ‏يَزْجُرْ ‏ ‏عَنْ ذَلِكَ ‏ ‏فَأَرَادَ ‏ ‏عُمَرُ ‏ ‏رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ‏ ‏أَنْ ‏ ‏يَزْجُرَ ‏ ‏عَنْهُ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "If I live, in sha Allah, I will prohibit people from being named Barakah, Yasar, and Nafi'."' He said: 'the Prophet ﷺ passed away before he did so.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏جَابِرٌ ‏ ‏أَنَّ أَمِيرَ الْبَعْثِ كَانَ ‏ ‏غَالِبًا اللَّيْثِيَّ ‏ ‏وَقُطْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ‏ ‏الَّذِي دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏النَّخْلَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ مِنْ الْبَابِ وَقَدْ تَسَوَّرَ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْجِدَارِ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُنَيْسٍ ‏ ‏الَّذِي سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ اثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ لَيْلَةً فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْتَمِسْهَا فِي هَذِهِ السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ الَّتِي بَقِينَ مِنْ الشَّهْرِ ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, Jabir (رضي الله عنه) informed me that the commander of the expedition was Ghalib al-Laythi, and that Qutbah ibn 'Amir was the one who entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the palm grove while he was going around (inspecting). He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so, son of so-and-so, will speak to you about his slave girl.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Call him for me.' He came, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Free her, for she is free. No one has the right to sell her.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرًا ‏ ‏رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ‏ ‏عَنْ السُّجُودِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَأْمُرُ أَنْ يُعْتَدَلَ فِي السُّجُودِ وَلَا يَسْجُدَ الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, he said: "I asked Jabir (رضي الله عنه) about prostration. He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanding that one should be balanced in prostration, and that a man should not spread his forearms on the ground like a dog spreads its forelegs.'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ نِدَاءَ الصَّلَاةِ فَرَّ بُعْدَ مَا بَيْنَ ‏ ‏الرَّوْحَاءِ ‏ ‏وَالْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏لَهُ ضُرَاطٌ ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه): "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When Shaytan hears the call to prayer, he flees a distance equal to that between al-Rawha' and Madinah.'" He said: 'The distance is thirty-six miles.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرًا ‏ ‏أَسَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ فِي كَثْرَةِ ‏ ‏خُطَا الرَّجُلِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ هَمَمْنَا أَنْ نَنْتَقِلَ مِنْ دُورِنَا إِلَى ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏لِقُرْبِ الْمَسْجِدِ ‏ ‏فَزَجَرَنَا ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ ‏ ‏لَا تُعْرُوا ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةَ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فَضِيلَةً عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ الْمَسْجِدِ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ دَرَجَةً ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, he said: "I asked Jabir (رضي الله عنه): 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say anything about a man taking many steps to the masjid?' He said: 'We wanted to move from our houses, which were far from the masjid, to be closer. the Prophet ﷺ said: "Your steps (to the masjid) are recorded (as reward)."'"

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The best destination to which mounts are ridden is the Masjid of Ibrahim (عليه السلام) and my masjid (the Prophet ﷺ's Mosque in Madinah)."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَمَرَ ‏ ‏عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ‏ ‏رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ‏ ‏زَمَانَ الْفَتْحِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ ‏ ‏الْبَيْتَ ‏ ‏وَهُوَ ‏ ‏بِالْبَطْحَاءِ ‏ ‏فَيَمْحُوَ كُلَّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْهُ حَتَّى مُحِيَتْ كُلُّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) narrated to me: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) at the time of the Conquest (of Makkah) to go to the Ka'bah and erase all the images (pictures) in it. the Prophet ﷺ did not enter it until all the images had been erased."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرًا ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الْمُهَلِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏مُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ الطَّرِيقِ الْأُخْرَى مِنْ ‏ ‏الْجُحْفَةِ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْعِرَاقِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏ذَاتِ عِرْقٍ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏نَجْدٍ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏قَرْنٍ ‏ ‏وَمُهَلُّ ‏ ‏أَهْلِ ‏ ‏الْيَمَنِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏يَلَمْلَمَ ‏

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, he said: "I asked Jabir (رضي الله عنه) about the miqat. He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The miqat of the people of Madinah is Dhul-Hulayfah, and the other route is al-Juhfah. The miqat of the people of Iraq is Dhat 'Irq. The miqat of the people of Najd is Qarn al-Manazil. The miqat of the people of Yemen is Yalamlam."'"
