Hadith #49
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ زَمَانَ الْفَتْحِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْبَيْتَ وَهُوَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ فَيَمْحُوَ كُلَّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْهُ حَتَّى مُحِيَتْ كُلُّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ
English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) narrated to me: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) at the time of the Conquest (of Makkah) to go to the Ka'bah and erase all the images (pictures) in it. the Prophet ﷺ did not enter it until all the images had been erased."
