Hadith #63
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ الْعَدَنِيُّ حَدَّثَ
نَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَقَطَتْ لُقْمَةُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيُمِطْ مَا عَلَيْهَا مِنْ أَذًى ثُمَّ لِيَأْكُلْهَا وَلَا يَدَعْهَا لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَلَا يَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ يَدَهُ بِالْمِنْدِيلِ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَ أَصَابِعَهُ أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي فِي أَيِّ طَعَامِهِ الْبَرَكَةُ
English Translation
'Abdullah ibn al-Walid — who is called al-'Adani — narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If a morsel of food falls from one of you, let him pick it up, remove what is on it of dirt, and eat it. And do not leave it for Shaytan. And let him not wipe his hand on a cloth until he has licked his fingers, for he does not know in which part of his food the blessing lies.'"
