Hadith #10

حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ
أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَطُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ لَمْ نَقْرَبْ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ

English Translation
Surayj narrated to us, Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj ibn Artah, from 'Ata', from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) who said: We arrived with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and performed tawaf around the House and between al-Safa and al-Marwah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Exit from ihram and make it an 'Umrah.' That weighed heavily on us, and our chests became constricted. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O people, exit from ihram. Were it not for the sacrificial animal I have with me, I would have done as you are doing.' So we exited ihram and heard and obeyed.
