حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ يُحَدِّثُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ حَائِطًا مِنْ حَوَائِطِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَجَلَسَ عَلَى ق
ُفِّ الْبِئْرِ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فَقَالَ ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَسَيَلْقَى بَلَاءً

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Wuhayb narrated to us, Musa ibn 'Uqbah narrated to me, he said: I heard Abu Salamah narrating — and I do not know of it except from Nafi' ibn 'Abd al-Harith — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered an enclosed garden from among the gardens of Madinah. He said to me: 'Guard the door.' Abu Bakr came and sought permission. He ﷺ said: 'Let him in and give him glad tidings of Paradise.' Then 'Umar came, and he said the same. Then 'Uthman came, and he said: 'Let him in and give him glad tidings of Paradise, along with a trial that shall befall him.'
