English Translation

Hajjaj (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that ibn Jurayj said, 'Uthman ibn Abi Sulayman narrated to me, from 'Ali al-Azdi, from 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr, from 'Abdullah ibn Hubshi al-Khath'ami, that the Prophet ﷺ was asked: 'Which deed is best?' He said: 'Faith without doubt, jihad without misappropriation of spoils, and an accepted Hajj.' It was asked: 'Which prayer is best?' He said: 'Prolonged standing.' It was asked: 'Which charity is best?' He said: 'The effort of one who has little.' It was asked: 'Which hijrah is best?' He said: 'To abandon what Allah has forbidden.' It was asked: 'Which jihad is best?' He said: 'Whoever strives against the polytheists with his wealth and his life.' It was asked: 'Which killing is most honorable?' He said: 'The one whose horse is slain and whose blood is shed.'
