حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُرَحْبِيلٌ عَنْ عُوَيْمِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أ
َنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَدْ أَحْسَنَ عَلَيْكُمْ الثَّنَاءَ فِي الطُّهُورِ فِي قِصَّةِ مَسْجِدِكُمْ فَمَا هَذَا الطُّهُورُ الَّذِي تَطَّهَّرُونَ بِهِ قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا نَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَنَا جِيرَانٌ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ فَكَانُوا يَغْسِلُونَ أَدْبَارَهُمْ مِنْ الْغَائِطِ فَغَسَلْنَا كَمَا غَسَلُوا

English Translation
Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Abu Uways narrated to us, Shurahbil narrated to us, from 'Uwaym ibn Sa'idah al-Ansari, that he narrated to him that the Prophet ﷺ came to them at Masjid Quba' and said: 'Indeed, Allah تبارك وتعالى has praised you for your purification in the story of Masjid Quba'. So what is this purification that you practice?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we do not know anything except that we had Jewish neighbors who used to wash [with water after relieving themselves], so we washed as they did.' He ﷺ said: 'Then this is it. Continue doing it.'
