حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ خَيْرِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْضُلُ الذِّكْرُ عَلَى النَّفَقَةِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى بِسَبْعِ مِائَةِ أَلْفِ ضِعْفٍ

English Translation

Isḥāq ibn ʿĪsā narrated to us: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us, from Khayr ibn Nuʿaym al-Ḥaḍramī, from Sahl ibn Muʿādh ibn Anas al-Juhanī, from his father [Muʿādh ibn Anas al-Juhanī] (رضي الله عنه) who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Remembrance of Allāh (dhikr) surpasses spending gold and silver [in the cause of Allāh], and surpasses meeting the enemy and striking their necks, and their striking your necks.'
