English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated to us: my father narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿĪsā, from Umayyah ibn Hind ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf, from ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿĀmir who said: ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah and Sahl ibn Ḥunayf (رضي الله عنهما) set out intending to bathe. He said: They walked looking for a secluded spot, and ʿĀmir looked at Sahl and said: 'I have not seen the like of what I see today, not even the skin of a secluded maiden!' Sahl fell to the ground immediately [struck by the evil eye]. the Prophet ﷺ was brought to him and was told: 'ʿĀmir afflicted him with the evil eye.' He ﷺ said: 'Why would one of you kill his brother? When one of you sees something that pleases him in his brother, let him supplicate for blessings for him.' Then he called for water and ordered ʿĀmir to wash, and the water was poured over Sahl, and he recovered.
