حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ الْكِلَابِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ق
َالَ لَهُ يَا ضَحَّاكُ مَا طَعَامُكَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اللَّحْمُ وَاللَّبَنُ قَالَ ثُمَّ يَصِيرُ إِلَى مَاذَا قَالَ إِلَى مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتَ قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ضَرَبَ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْ ابْنِ آدَمَ مَثَلًا لِلدُّنْيَا

English Translation
Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik narrated to us: Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, from ʿAlī ibn Judʿān, from al-Ḥasan, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk ibn Sufyān al-Kilābī (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said to him: 'O Ḍaḥḥāk, what is your food?' He said: 'Meat and milk.' He ﷺ said: 'And then what does it become?' He said: 'It becomes what you know.' He ﷺ said: 'Indeed, Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, has set the similitude for what comes out of the son of Ādam as a parable for the world.'
