حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُسْتَلِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا خُبَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ غَزْوًا أَنَا وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِي وَلَمْ نُسْلِمْ فَقُلْ
نَا إِنَّا نَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَشْهَدَ قَوْمُنَا مَشْهَدًا لَا نَشْهَدُهُ مَعَهُمْ قَالَ أَوَ أَسْلَمْتُمَا قُلْنَا لَا قَالَ فَإِنَّا لَا نَسْتَعِينُ بِالْمُشْرِكِينَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَالَ فَأَسْلَمْنَا وَشَهِدْنَا مَعَهُ فَقَتَلْتُ رَجُلًا وَضَرَبَنِي ضَرْبَةً وَتَزَوَّجْتُ بِابْنَتِهِ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَكَانَتْ تَقُولُ لَا عَدِمْتَ رَجُلًا وَشَّحَكَ هَذَا الْوِشَاحَ فَأَقُولُ لَا عَدِمْتِ رَجُلًا عَجَّلَ أَبَاكِ النَّارَ

English Translation
Yazīd narrated to us, saying: al-Mustalim ibn Saʿīd informed us: Khubayb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather (رضي الله عنه) who said: I came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was planning an expedition, I and a man from my people, and we had not yet accepted Islam. We said: 'We feel ashamed that our people go out and we do not go out with them.' He ﷺ said: 'Have you both accepted Islam?' We said: 'No.' He ﷺ said: 'We do not seek help from the polytheists.' He said: So we accepted Islam and went on the expedition with him.
