English Translation

Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us, al-Rabi' — meaning Ibn Sabih — narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr al-Makki, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us from eating leeks and onions. We were overcome by need, so we ate them. He ﷺ said: 'Whoever eats from this foul-smelling plant, let him not come near our mosque. For indeed the angels are harmed by what harms the children of Adam.'
