English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, he said: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn Masrūq, from ʿAbāyah ibn Rifāʿah ibn Rāfiʿ, from his grandfather Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, who said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, we shall meet the enemy tomorrow and we have no knives with us.' He said: 'Whatever causes blood to flow and over which the name of Allāh is mentioned, eat it — as long as it is not a tooth or a claw. As for the tooth, it is a bone; and as for the claw, it is the knife of the Abyssinians.'
