English Translation

ʿAffān narrated to us, Abān al-ʿAṭṭār narrated to us, Qatādah narrated to us, from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab, from Abū ʿUbayd, that he cooked a pot of meat for the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Hand me the foreleg' — and the foreleg was most beloved to him. He handed it to him. Then he said: 'Hand me the foreleg,' and he handed it to him. Then he said: 'Hand me the foreleg.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, how many forelegs does a sheep have?' He said: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent you would have been handing me forelegs as long as I kept asking.'
