Sa'id ibn Zayd al-Adawi al-Qurashi (may Allah be pleased with him) was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ and one of the ten Companions given the explicit glad tidings of Paradise by the Prophet ﷺ in a single statement — a distinction shared only with Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, al-Zubayr, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, Abu Ubayda ibn al-Jarrah, and himself. His full name was Sa'id ibn Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl. His father Zayd ibn Amr was one of the Hanifs — pre-Islamic monotheists who rejected idolatry — and came close to Islam before the revelation. Sa'id himself was among the earliest converts. He married Fatima bint al-Khattab, the sister of Umar ibn al-Khattab, and their household is noted in the account of Umar's conversion when he came to confront them and discovered they had already accepted Islam. He participated in all major campaigns and was deeply pious. He narrated approximately fifty hadiths. He passed away in Medina or near Aqiq around 50–51 AH.
