English Translation
Abū al-Naḍr narrated to us: Abū Jaʿfar — meaning al-Rāzī — narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Abī Mālik: Abū Sibāʿ narrated to us, he said: I bought a she-camel from the house of Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ. When I left with it, Wāthilah caught up with us, dragging his cloak, and said: 'O servant of Allāh, did you buy it?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Did he explain to you what is wrong with it?' I said: 'What is wrong with it? It is fat and evidently healthy.' He said: 'Do you intend it for travel or for meat?' I said: 'Rather, I intend to perform Ḥajj on it.' He said: 'There is a hole in its hoof.' The seller said: 'May Allāh set you right! What are you doing? You are ruining my sale!' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: "It is not lawful for anyone to sell something without disclosing what is wrong with it, and it is not lawful for anyone who knows of that to not disclose it."'
