English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us: Khubayb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Masʿūd ibn Niyār, from Sahl ibn Abī Ḥathmah, who said: He came to us while we were in our mosque. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'When you estimate (the harvest of dates on the trees), take (your due) and leave a third. If you do not leave — or do not harvest (Shuʿbah was uncertain) — a third, then leave a quarter.'
