قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ خَاصَمَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ الزُّبَيْرَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي شِرَاجِ الْحَرَّةِ الَّتِي يَسْقُونَ بِهَا النَّخْلَ فَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ لِلزُّبَيْرِ سَرِّحْ الْمَاءَ فَأَبَى فَكَلَّمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَل
َّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْقِ يَا زُبَيْرُ ثُمَّ أَرْسِلْ إِلَى جَارِكَ فَغَضِبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنْ كَانَ ابْنَ عَمَّتِكَ فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ احْبِسْ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ إِلَى الْجُدُرِ قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَحْسِبُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ نَزَلَتْ فِي ذَلِكَ { فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّى يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ وَيُسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا }

English Translation
Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us, Layth ibn Saʿd narrated to us, and Ibn Shihāb narrated to me, from ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, from ʿAbdullāh ibn al-Zubayr who said: A man from the Anṣār disputed with al-Zubayr before the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ regarding the water channels of al-Ḥarrah with which they irrigated their palm trees. The Anṣārī said to al-Zubayr: 'Let the water flow.' But he refused. They brought the matter to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, who said: 'Irrigate, O Zubayr, then release the water to your neighbor.' The Anṣārī grew angry and said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, is it because he is your cousin?' the Prophet ﷺ's face changed color, and he said: 'Hold the water until it reaches the walls.' Al-Zubayr said: 'By Allāh, I believe this verse was revealed concerning that: "But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in what they dispute among themselves... and submit with full submission" [4:65].'
