English Translation

Ḥajjāj narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to me, Sulaymān ibn Mūsā said: Zubayd informed me that Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī came to his family and found a bowl of dried sacrificial meat. He refused to eat it, then went to Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān who informed him that the Prophet ﷺ stood and said: 'I had commanded you not to eat the sacrificial meat beyond three days so it would suffice for you. Now I permit it — eat of it as you wish. Do not sell the meat of sacrificial offerings — eat, give charity, and make use of their skins. Do not sell them. If you are given any of their meat, eat it if you wish.' And in this hadith from Abū Saʿīd, from the Prophet ﷺ: 'So now eat, trade, and store.' Ḥajjāj narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj, Abū al-Zubayr informed me, from Jābir — similar to this hadith of Zubayd from Abū Saʿīd — but he did not convey all of it from the Prophet ﷺ.
