English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us: I was told that Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī — and from Sulaymān ibn Mūsā, from so-and-so — and from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh — though Abū al-Zubayr did not convey this entire story — that Abū Qatādah came to his family and found a bowl of tharīd made from dried sacrificial meat. He refused to eat it, then went to Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān who informed him that the Prophet ﷺ stood during a Ḥajj and said: 'I had commanded you not to eat the sacrificial meat beyond three days, so that it would suffice for all of you. Now I permit it for you — eat of it as you wish. Do not sell the meat of the sacrificial offerings — eat, give charity, and make use of their skins. If you are given any of their meat, eat it if you wish.'
