Arabic Text
قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ قَالَ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَشْتَرُونَ الذَّهَبَ بِالْوَرِقِ نَسِيئَةً إِلَى الْعَطَاءِ فَأَتَى عَلَيْهِمْ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ فَنَهَاهُم
ْ وَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَبِيعَ الذَّهَبَ بِالْوَرِقِ نَسِيئَةً وَأَنْبَأَنَا أَوْ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَنَّ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الرِّبَا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Ismāʿīl narrated to us, he said: Ayyūb narrated to us, from Abū Qilābah who said: People used to buy gold with silver on credit until the stipend was paid. Then Hishām ibn ʿĀmir came upon them and forbade them, saying: Indeed the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ forbade us from selling gold for silver on credit, and he informed us — or said: and he told us — that this is usury (ribā).
