حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ أُحُدٍ أَصَابَ النَّاسَ قَرْحٌ وَجَهْدٌ شَدِيدٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ نُقَدِّمُ قَالَ أَكْثَرَهُمْ جَمْعًا وَأَخْذًا لِلْقُرْآنِ

English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah, from Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl, from Hishām ibn ʿĀmir al-Anṣārī who said: On the day of Uḥud, the people suffered wounds and severe hardship. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Dig, make the graves wide, and bury two and three in a single grave." They said: O Messenger of Allāh, whom should we put forward? He said: "The one who had memorized more of the Qurʾān."
