English Translation
ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us, he said: Mulāzim ibn ʿAmr al-Suḥaymī narrated to us, he said: Sirāj ibn ʿUqbah narrated to us, from his aunt Khaldah bint Ṭalq, who said: My father Ṭalq narrated to me that he was sitting with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ when Ṣaḥḥār from ʿAbd al-Qays came and said: O Messenger of Allāh, what do you think about a drink we make in our land from our fruits? the Prophet ﷺ of Allāh ﷺ turned away from him until he asked three times. Then he stood and prayed. When he finished his prayer, the Prophet ﷺ said: "Who was asking about intoxicants? Do not drink it and do not give it to your Muslim brother to drink. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul" — or an oath to that effect — "no man drinks it seeking the pleasure of its intoxication except that Allāh will give him wine to drink on the Day of Resurrection."
