Hadith #470

English Translation

ʿAbd al-Ṣamad and Surayj narrated to us, they said: Mulāzim ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, ʿAbdullāh ibn Badr narrated to us that ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAlī narrated to him, that his father ʿAlī ibn Shaybān narrated to him that he went out as a delegate to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. He said: We prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ. He glanced with the corner of his eye at a man who was not straightening his back in bowing and prostration. When the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ finished, he said: "O assembly of Muslims, there is no prayer for one who does not straighten his back in bowing and prostration." He said: And he saw a man praying alone behind the row. He waited until the man finished, then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Repeat your prayer, for there is no prayer for a man alone behind the row." ʿAbd al-Ṣamad said: "alone behind the row." ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, he said: Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Shaqarī narrated to us, he said: ʿAmr ibn Jābir narrated to me, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Badr, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAlī ibn Shaybān, from his father — and he mentioned it. Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: Ayyūb ibn ʿUtbah informed us, he said: ʿAbdullāh ibn Badr narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAlī ibn Shaybān al-Suḥaymī narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me — and he mentioned it.
