English Translation
Ḥajjāj narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to me, he said: I heard Qatādah say: I heard Muṭarrif ibn ʿAbdillāh ibn al-Shikhkhīr narrating from his father who said: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: You are the master of Quraysh. the Prophet ﷺ said: "The Master is Allāh." He said: You are the most excellent of them in speech and the greatest of them in authority. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Let one of you say what he has to say, and let the Shayṭān not lead him on."
