English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, and Ḥajjāj said: Shuʿbah narrated to me, he said: I heard Qatādah narrating from Muṭarrif, from his father who said: I came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was reciting {Competition in worldly increase diverts you}. The son of Ādam says: 'My wealth, my wealth!' But what is yours from your wealth except what you ate and thus consumed, or what you wore and thus wore out, or what you gave in charity and thus sent forth?
