English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, he said: Hishām narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Muṭarrif ibn ʿAbdillāh, from his father, that a man came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was reciting — and Wakīʿ said on another occasion: came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was reciting: {Competition in worldly increase diverts you, until you visit the graves} [102:1-2]. He said: "The son of Ādam says: 'My wealth, my wealth!' But what is yours from your wealth except what you gave in charity and thus sent forth, or what you wore and thus wore out, or what you ate and thus consumed?"
