Hadith #531

English Translation

Abū Kāmil narrated to us, Ḥammād — meaning Ibn Salamah — narrated to us, from Thābit, from Sulaymān the freedman of al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī, from ʿUbaydullāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, from his father, that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ came one day with joy visible on his face. They said: O Messenger of Allāh, we see joy on your face. He said: "Indeed, an angel came to me and said: 'O Muḥammad, does it not please you that your Lord عز وجل says: No one from your ummah sends prayers upon you except that I pray upon him ten times, and no one from your ummah sends greetings of peace upon you except that I return peace upon him ten times?'" He said: Yes. ʿAffān narrated to us, he said: Ḥammād narrated to us, Thābit narrated to us, he said: Sulaymān, the freedman of al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī, came to us during the time of al-Ḥajjāj, and he narrated to us from ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ came one day with joy visible on his face — and he mentioned it.
