حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ لَقِيطِ بْنِ صَبِرَةَ عَنْ أ
َبِيهِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَبَحَ لَنَا شَاةً وَقَالَ لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَا يَحْسَبَنَّ إِنَّا إِنَّمَا ذَبَحْنَاهَا لَكَ وَلَكِنْ لَنَا غَنَمٌ فَإِذَا بَلَغَتْ مِائَةً ذَبَحْنَا شَاةً

English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Hāshim Ismāʿīl ibn Kathīr, from ʿĀṣim ibn Laqīṭ ibn Ṣabirah, from his father who said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ and he slaughtered a sheep for us and said: "Do not think — and he did not say 'let him not think' — that we slaughtered it for you. Rather, we have sheep, and when they reach a hundred, we slaughter one."
