حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مَالِكٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي يَا أَبَتِ إِنَّكَ قَدْ صَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ وَعَلِيٍّ هَاهُنَا بِالْكُوفَةِ قَرِيبًا مِنْ خَمْسِ سِنِينَ أَكَانُوا يَقْنُتُونَ قَالَ أَيْ بُنَيَّ مُحْدَثٌ

English Translation

Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: Abū Mālik informed us. He said: I said to my father: 'O father, you prayed behind the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and Abū Bakr, and ʿUmar, and ʿUthmān, and ʿAlī here in Kūfah for about five years. Did they used to make the qunūt (supplication in Fajr prayer)?' He said: 'O my son, that is an innovation.'
