English Translation
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from Sufyān, from ʿAṭāʾ — meaning Ibn al-Sāʾib — from a man from Bakr ibn Wāʾil, from his maternal uncle, who said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, shall I impose the tithe (ʿushūr) on my people?' He said: 'The tithe is only upon the Jews and the Christians, and there is no tithe upon the Muslims.'
