English Translation
ʿAbdullāh narrated to us, Abū Ṣāliḥ al-Ḥakam ibn Mūsā narrated to me, he said: ʿĪsā ibn Yūnus informed us, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from al-Mughīrah ibn Saʿd, from his father — or from his uncle — who said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ at ʿArafah. I took hold of the rein — or the halter — of his she-camel and pushed people back from him. He said: 'Leave him, for an important matter has brought him.' I said, 'Inform me of a deed that will bring me near to Paradise and distance me from the Fire.' He raised his head to the sky, then said: 'If you have been concise in your speech, you have indeed asked about something great' — or 'something lengthy.' 'You worship Allāh, associating nothing with Him, establish the prayer, pay the zakāh, perform the pilgrimage to the House, fast Ramaḍān, and treat people as you would like them to treat you, and what you dislike for yourself, spare people from it. Release the rein of the she-camel.'
