حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ

عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَوْ كَانَ الْمُطْعِمُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ حَيًّا فَكَلَّمَنِي فِي هَؤُلَاءِ النَّتْنَى أَطْلَقْتُهُمْ يَعْنِي أُسَارَى بَدْرٍ

English Translation

Sufyān narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'If al-Muṭʿim ibn ʿAdī were alive and spoke to me concerning these foul ones, I would have released them for his sake' — meaning the captives of Badr.
