English Translation
Ibn Idrīs narrated to us, he said: I heard Shuʿbah mention from Abū Iyās Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah al-Muzanī, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Mughaffal, who said: I heard him reciting, meaning the Prophet ﷺ, on the Day of the Conquest. Were it not that the people would gather around me, I would have mimicked for you the recitation of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. He said: He recited Sūrat al-Fatḥ. Were it not that the people would gather around me, I would have mimicked for you how ʿAbdullāh — meaning Ibn Mughaffal — said the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ recited. Bahz and Ghundar said: He recited with tarjīʿ (melodious repetition) in it.
